Marjorie Mae Luther passed away at home on Aug. 4, 2023.
Marjorie was born to Merle Durward and Lucille Hunter on Feb. 25, 1947, in Morrison, Illinois. Her father was a farmer where Marjorie gained a love of horses. Marjorie grew up and became well educated in teaching and wanted to share that with the students.
She had many degrees in teaching and was well traveled. On Aug. 12, 2000, she married Rev. Dale Luther and they settled in Michigan City, Indiana.
She expanded her interests with square dancing and theater. She volunteered as an usher at the Footlight Theater in Michigan City, Indiana. Marg also volunteered at Franciscan Health Michigan City, where Dale had served as a chaplain. She loved all animals and visited Fried’s Cat Shelter as often as possible.
Preceding her in death is her parents; a sister; and her beloved husband, Dale.
Marjorie liked to be called Marg and never knew an enemy. Her smile could light up a room. Her favorite saying when speaking with her was “Just a minute,” because she wanted to absorb and hear what you were talking about.
She was an over thinker, and stubborn, but much loved by many. She joined a senior group called The Jollies and went faithfully. They also took trips, had meals and always talked about the Lord.
Marg would want everyone to know that Jesus is real and getting your life right with God would be a gift to yourself! She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Michigan City, and would often be seen volunteering there as well at the desk. Many cousins, a niece and nephew, and friends far and wide will miss her.
When she is missed, you know she will be there in one form or another, knowing she is in the arms of Jesus.
Memorial will be announced later at her above-mentioned church, and all are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
Arrangements were entrusted with Southshore Online Cremation, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN 46360.
